Some kids with Autism and Asperger's have musical inclination. My daughter has Aspergers and is also a freelance violinist/violist, so it's certainly true in her case. The place where she has speech therapy has just purchased another building and they want to add music therapy. As my daughter needs help with speaking, her teaching the kids will be part of her own therapy. We already have one tongue drum which we used with learning disabled kids during summer camp, they loved it. We would get them to hold onto the side of the drum while another child would play the drum. The vibrations from the drum are very soothing too autistic children, it helps calm them. We also use pentatonic harps and have the child lay on the floor and we put a harp on their stomach/chest and strum, again the vibrations help soothe.
